Mazmur 74:19

74:19 Do not hand the life of your dove ¹  over to a wild animal!

Do not continue to disregard ²  the lives of your oppressed people!

Mazmur 72:2

72:2 Then he will judge ³  your people fairly,

and your oppressed ones ⁴  equitably.

[74:19]  ¹ sn Your dove. The psalmist compares weak and vulnerable Israel to a helpless dove.

[74:19]  ² tn Heb “do not forget forever.”

[72:2]  ³ tn The prefixed verbal form appears to be an imperfect, not a jussive.

[72:2]  ⁴ sn These people are called God’s oppressed ones because he is their defender (see Pss 9:12, 18; 10:12; 12:5).
